Linus Torvalds announced yesterday, September 16th, that the sixth Release Candidate of the upcoming Linux 3.6 kernel is available for download and testing.

Linux kernel 3.6 Release Candidate 6 is comprised of two thirds drivers, and the rest is just filesystem (including NFS and GFS2) and architecture updates.

"And as I suspected, the reason -rc5 was so small was that a lot of people were still getting ready after the Kernel Summit. So -rc6 is a bit larger, since people were playing catch-up. That said, it's not *huge* either, and it's not like it looks scary, but it's definitely not tiny.

Please do test things out, I'd really like to be able to do the final 3.6 soonish..” said Linus Torvalds in the email announcement.

Download Linux kernel 3.6 RC6 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it is intended for testing purposes only.
