Linus Torvalds announced last evening, August 22nd, that the third Release Candidate of the upcoming Linux 3.6 kernel is now available for download and testing.

Linux kernel 3.6 Release Candidate 3 brings mostly updated drivers, Arch updates, as well as networking and filesystem improvements.

"A mid-week -rc release to match the mid-week rc2 release. It's just six days since rc2, but I'm not only making up for the longer -rc2, I'm also on the airport for San Diego, spending a few days there before the kernel summit."

"Shortlog appemded, there's nothing here that makes me go "OMG! Scary!" or makes me want to particularly mention it separately. All just random updates and fixes," said Linus Torvalds in the email announcement.

Download Linux kernel 3.6 RC3 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it is intended for testing purposes only.
