Linus Torvalds announced last evening, January 19th, that the first Release Candidate version of the upcoming Linux kernel 3.3 is available for download and testing.

Linux kernel 3.3 RC1 is composed of 20% arch updates (arm, x86, power, mips),  60% drivers (wireless networking, media, dri, staging, sound, removal of 'struct sysdev'), and 20% filesystems improvements, networking, perf, etc.

"There are a couple of trees I haven't merged on purpose, and there may be a few trees I overlooked by mistake. The "on purpose" ones were things that looked unfamiliar and I felt I didn't have the bandwidth to check. The "mistake" ones would just be things I missed due to being busy." - said Linus Torvalds in the announcement.

Download Linux Kernel 3.3 RC1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it is intended for testing purposes only.
