On February 2, Linus Torvalds had the pleasure of announcing that the first Release Candidate for the upcoming Linux kernel 3.14 is now available for download and testing.

Linux kernel 3.14 RC1 includes updated drivers, architecture updates (ARM mostly, x86, PowerPC, s390, mips, and ia64), core kernel improvements, networking, mm, tooling, etc.

“Hey, it was a normal two-week merge window, and it's closed now. As far as I'm aware, I've pulled everything asked from me (with one exception, see later) and applied all patches I was meant to apply.”

“If you feel I overlooked your work, it might be due to an email being caught as spam (it happened several times lately, but I think I caught them all) or just plain incompetence on my part (that happens too),” Linus Torvalds said in the official announcement for Linux kernel 3.14 RC1.

Download Linux kernel 3.14 RC1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
