The folks at Gnutella network have updated their P2P file sharing utility, LimeWire. Version X 5.0.11 Beta is available for immediate download right here on our web site. The new release adds a number of fixes to issues reported by users of the previous version of the software, but not only.

Particularly, LimeWire X 5.0.11 Beta fixes a memory leak by removing a listener for a friend's library, the changelog says. Another issue that should be taken care of once you install the latest LimeWire beta is an exception when holding down the Shift key while left clicking on a column header. Gnutella network points out that various general auto complete fixes have also been incorporated in this release.

LimeWire is a free peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing client for Mac OS X. It uses the Java platform to locate files, as well as share files and it is one of the only P2P file sharing solutions of its kind for the Mac. LimeWire is compatible with all major platforms and running over the Gnutella network and is touted as the fastest, easiest, most advanced file sharing program of its kind. The software adds iTunes integration on both Mac and Windows platforms, thanks to a recent update, as well as a browse-host feature, which works even through firewalls. LimeWire connects to the network using GWebCache, a distributed connection system.

LimeWire's open source code was developed (in part) by a devoted programmer community. The code is freely available to the public.
