LibreOffice, which is currently regarded as one of the best alternatives for the very expensive Microsoft Office, has received a new update today that brings it closer to a new stable version expected to see daylight very soon.

LibreOffice 4.2.4 RC 2 is available on all supported platforms, which include Windows, Linux, and Mac, and comes with plenty of bug fixes, some of which were causing crashes and random issues when using the built-in productivity suite.

As you could easily figure out by simply reading the version number, LibreOffice 4.2.4 RC 2 is still in the development channel, so a number of bugs could still exist in the app. And still, since it's a release candidate, expect the new version to work smoothly no matter the platform that's powering your computer.

In the end, LibreOffice 4.2.4 RC 2 is a very good chance to try out the feature lineup of the next stable version of the productivity suite before it hits the market in stable form. As a result, use the download links below to get the build appropriate for your operating system and make sure that you report any bugs that you come across to the developing team in order to fix them before rolling out the stable build.
