Naver today offers a new version of its popular LINE messaging app for OS X, adding some changes in the supported environment for video call and other video-related features to OS X Lion computers, according to the release notes. Several other improvements are also mentioned.

Japan’s Naver apparently felt it was necessary to change something in the way LINE handles video calls and other video-related features on OS X 10.7 and later versions. The developer doesn’t elaborate on the changes, but apparently this is the flagship change in LINE 3.6.0, out now for all Mac users (not just those using OS X Lion).

The update further includes improvements to transmission speed, the ability to rotate and resize photos in the image viewer, a better login screen, minor bug fixes, and some small improvements.

For users who haven’t updated in some time, the new version also packs the perks delivered in LINE 3.5.1, including improvements to the image viewer in the chat window and the sticker selection screen, the option to write comments on the Timeline with stickers and text, clearly defined active/inactive statuses, and the ability to delete friends from hidden/blocked user lists. Download LINE Messenger for OS X on any Intel-based Mac running OS X 10.6.6 or later.
