Jordan Mechner’s famous Karateka game has been available for iOS platforms for a few months now. Those who haven’t yet grabbed it can now do so for cheap.

The side-scrolling karate classic has graphics made by Jeff Matsuda and music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin.

The game’s plot and gameplay is virtually the same, but the fights are now in 3D and the visual experience is much more compelling.

“Karateka will charm you with its classic love story set in feudal Japan. Fight to save the lovely Mariko from the evil warlord Akuma and reunite her with her True Love,” says Karateka LLC.

The requirements sheet mentions iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad, as well as iOS 4.0 or later.

However, the description also states that “Karateka requires iPhone 4S or newer, iPad 2 or newer, or 5th-gen iPod Touch.” You be the judge. We’re just here to point you to the download.
