This week, Microsoft announced the availability of the Internet Explorer Administration Kit 10 (IEAK 10) Pre-Release, which was destined to simplify the creation, deployment, and management of Internet Explorer 10 packages.

The new tool can prove a great option for those who need to configure the out-of-box Internet Explorer 10 experience, Microsoft notes. Moreover, the app can provide management of user settings after deployment.

The Pre-Release version of IEAK 10 was made available for download mainly for evaluation purposes, and it is not aimed at being used in a production environment.

“IEAK 10 Pre-release enables the most efficient way to deploy Internet Explorer 10 and manage Web-based solutions. Learn how to tailor a custom browser to meet your customers' needs,” Microsoft notes.

It should be noted that IEAK 10 Pre-release cannot run successfully unless Internet Explorer 10 has been installed on the computer.

Those who would like to create custom browser packages using IEAK 10 Pre-Release can use the Internet Explorer Customization Wizard for that.

“When these packages are installed on your clients' desktops, they'll receive customized versions of Internet Explorer with the settings and options that you selected in the wizard,” Microsoft explains.

“IEAK 10 Pre-Release supports creating an MSI wrapper for your custom Internet Explorer 10 packages. This makes enterprise deployment using Active Directory possible,” the company continues.

With the new Pre-Release version of the tool, users can easily customize and install Internet Explorer 10 versions on computers that are based on Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.

IEAK 10 Pre-Release requires a 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor to work, 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit) of RAM, 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) of available HDD space, and a Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver.
