In less than a week, customers worldwide will be able to download the final version of Internet Explorer 9.

Microsoft has confirmed today that it will release IE9 to web on March 14th, 2011, at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

“Exactly twelve months from the first Platform Preview of IE9, on Monday March 14th we will celebrate the developers and designers who are making a more beautiful web for all of us. We will release the final version of Internet Explorer 9 for download beginning at 9 p.m. Pacific,” revealed Ryan Gavin, Senior Director, Internet Explorer Business and Marketing.

With the IE9 RTW downloads going live in just six days, the promise from Gavin is that Microsoft still has a few surprises left to share with users.

The software giant hasn’t exactly said what, but SXSW is just around the corner, so the wait is bound not to take that much of a toll on customers.

I did get an invitation to SXSW but unfortunately, due to issues related to my passport, I won’t be attending the event.

However, I do hope to provide a unique perspective on Internet Explorer 9 with a tad of help from the Redmond company, so make sure to stay tuned.

“In Austin we will be joined by some of the most exciting websites and web heroes out there, including Ze Frank.

"We also have a heck of party planned celebrating the amazing developers and designers who are creating a more beautiful web. We’ll feature live music from Yeasayer, the Head and the Heart, and Fences at Austin City Limits Livethe night of the 14th. It’s a party you won’t want to miss.,” Gavin added.

IE9 has already been downloaded in excess of 36 million times according to Microsoft.
