The free Hulu Plus application for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad has reached version 2.3 which now includes tabbed search results, a dedicated criterion menu, a bunch of iPad 2-specific tweaks and a simplified login screen.

Hulu Plus lets iOS owners stream thousands of episodes from hundreds of current and classic TV shows right to their portable iDevice, as well as to any computer, TV, and other devices with a Hulu Plus subscription.

Those who subscribe get a full season pass and can watch every current season episode of top TV shows from major networks like ABC, Fox, and NBC.

The app offers 720p HD resolution (when available) with multi-bitrate support for the optimal viewing experience for every device screen resolution and network connection speed.

Users can search and browse for shows and videos, as well as manage their queue directly from their iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

The solution is also cross-platform-compatible, meaning you can resume play from where you left off on other Hulu Plus devices.

These include your home computer and a bunch of select mobile phones that support the app, as well as a handful of internet-connected TVs, and Blu-ray players, according to its developers.

Finally, Hulu Plus for iOS supports viewing over WiFi and 3G. The latter connection standard is supported only on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and 3G iPads.

As noted above, version 2.3 brings a number of improvements. The changelog is reproduced below:

What's New in Version 2.3

• Tabbed search results • Dedicated Criterion menu • iPad 2-specific updates • Simplified login screen • Performance improvements • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

The developers fail to mention what these iPad 2-specific enhancements are for, but we’re guessing it has something to do with the cameras, or leveraging the extra CPU power, or both.

Hulu Plus requires iOS 4.0 or later and is immediately available for download via the link below.
