Download HPC Pack 2008 R2 SP1 Resources

Microsoft released the first service pack for HPC Pack 2008 R2 earlier this month, and the company is also providing customers leveraging its high performance computing platform with additional resources.

In this regard, HPC Pack 2008 R2 MS-MPI Redistributable Package with Service Pack 1 and HPC Pack 2008 R2 Client Utilities Redistributable Package with Service Pack 1 are both available through the Microsoft Download Center.

Customers can grab both downloads free of charge and leverage them in conjunction with HPC Pack 2008 R2.

The HPC Pack 2008 R2 MS-MPI Redistributable Package with SP1 is designed to provide customers with the same Microsoft MPI (MS-MPI) installer offered with HPC Pack 2008 R2 SP1.

“You can now develop and run MPI applications without having to set up an HPC Pack cluster. Please refer to the HPC Pack 2008 R2 SDK for information on running small multi-process MPI jobs through the command line, without using the HPC Pack user interface.

“You may also redistribute this MS-MPI installation package with your own applications, to facilitate having an application that can run on a stand-alone workstation and easily take advantage of an HPC Pack 2008 R2-based cluster,” Microsoft stated.

HPC Pack 2008 R2 Client Utilities Redistributable Package with SP1 is also a stand-alone, and redistributable, installer for the HPC Pack 2008 R2 Client Utilities.

In fact, the download brings to the table the same Client Utilities installer from HPC Pack 2008 R2 SP1.

“You can now develop applications that interact with an HPC Pack 2008 R2-based cluster without requiring your users to already have the HPC Pack client utilities installed on their machine,” the company added.

“You can also these packages to quickly deploy the Client Utilities to workstations at your organization through your standard application deployment process. You may redistribute this Client Utilities installation package with your own applications.”
