A couple of months ago, Google released the latest version of its Toolbar for Internet Explorer which introduced built-in Instant Search, enabling users to get results as soon as they start typing in the search box.

The feature was not enabled by default, allowing users to ease into and Google to do some more testing, but Instant Search will start becoming the default for all Toolbar users soon.

The latest version, Google Toolbar 7, will also start to be pushed to those that haven't updated their toolbars yet.

"In April, we released Google Toolbar 7 for Internet Explorer with the ability for you to opt-in to Toolbar Instant," Allen Huang, Associate Product Manager, Google Toolbar, wrote.

"Since then we’ve been working to improve its speed and reliability, and starting today we’ll be gradually updating all Google Toolbars on Internet Explorer and turning on Toolbar Instant everywhere that Google Instant is available," he added.

The latest update to the Google Toolbar for IE introduces an improved Instant Search.

With the feedback Google got since Google Toolbar 7 for IE launched, the developers have tweaked the functionality and are now confident enough to enable it for everyone.

If you're using the Google Toolbar 7 for Internet Explorer, but haven't enabled Instant Search, you should start seeing the feature live in the coming weeks. Similarly, if you're still using an older version of the toolbar, you will get the updated version soon.

That said, if you find Instant Search distracting or just not useful for whatever reason, you can disable the feature quite easily. Go the Wrench menu and select the General tab. There you can check or uncheck the "Enable Instant for faster searching and browsing" box.

Google Toolbar 7 works on Internet Explorer 8, currently the most popular browser on the web, and on the newer Internet Explorer 9.
