Google has released a new version of its e-reading application for iOS platforms adding the ability to upload your own PDF or EPUB books to the iPhone / iPad.

Google Play Books version 1.5.1 adds support for feeding your own PDF or EPUB files to an iPhone or iPad, according to Google.

“You can upload the files using Google Play web site, and read them on all your devices,” says the search giant. The update also includes stability and performance improvements.

Google Play Books lets you change fonts, search within the book, and manage your library. It features a night-reading mode, has VoiceOver support, and lets you read books offline.

The app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation), and iPad, and requires iOS 5.0 or later.
