Search giant Google has released the latest version of its mobile Maps application for iOS customers, delivering an all-new “faster route” feature that notifies users when there’s an easier way to get from point A to point B.

Google Maps 2.6.0 displays a notification when a faster route becomes available in navigation mode, allowing users to switch to a faster alternative for getting to their destination.

The usual bag of fixes is also included in this release, while the interface remains unchanged.

“The newly designed Google Maps app for iPhone and iPad makes navigating your world faster and easier. Find the best spots in town and the information you need to get there,” says the Mountain View search giant.

Users can download Google Maps on any iPhone or iPad with iOS 6.0 (or later) installed. The app is supported in over a dozen different languages.
