14 DAY TRIAL // An updated version of the Google Drive application is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices, namely version 1.2.352.9.
Already pushed to the Google Play Store, the new software iteration is said to pack a series of bug fixes and other improvements inside.
The changelog is rather vague, but Android Police took the new app release for a spin and discovered major enhancements when compared to the previously available version, namely 1.2.228.32.
One of the main changes in the updated software is the inclusion of a Holo Light theme instead of Holo Dark, which makes it look a bit more joyful.
Additionally, users will see a new Create Bar placed at the bottom of the screen when launching the application, meant to offer fast access to common actions.
The bar is said to behave in a similar manner with the Google+ application, as it disappears when scrolling down. However, it will reappear when tapping the screen again.
Another appealing feature included in the new app release is the option to refresh a file list through swiping down, the same as you can in Gmail and Google+.
Spreadsheets have been updated with a handful of new features as well, including a new Cells button when selecting a cell. Users will be able to change borders and format numbers and dates following the update.
The app also comes with support for splitting cells and merging multiple ones, courtesy of a new Split/Join Cells button. On top of that, you will also be able to merge and split entire rows and columns.
There is also the option to “freeze” rows and columns, enabling users to navigate through parts of the spreadsheet as they desire.
Other changes in the new release include a Color Drawing option that was added to the Scan's Image enhancement settings, along with a pause button for downloads.
