Google Drive 3.0.0 is out today featuring an extra layer of security thanks to the ability to set a padlock on your cloud account using a four-digit passcode, much like on the iPhone. Additional fixes and improvements are also delivered in this update.

You can never be too careful with your digital life these days. Pretty much any web service is hackable, and clouds are no exception to the rule. Google wants to play it safe and is now giving customers an option to set a four-digit passcode on their Drive accounts.

The iOS Google Drive app has been updated to include this feature as an added layer of security: “Passcode Lock: Protect your Drive using a 4-digit passcode,” reads the changelog. Additionally, Google Drive version 3.0.0 comes with “bug fixes and performance improvements.” Google reminds customers to check out the Docs and Sheets apps as well.

Google Drive 3.0.0 is localized in dozens of different languages and supports only iOS 7 devices, including iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, and iPod touch fifth generation. The app comes free with 15GB of online storage.
