It’s been less than a week since Google released a major update for Chrome on Android devices and now it looks like the beta version is getting a similar treatment.

Google has just updated Chrome Beta for Android to version 27.0.1453.49. The latest update has already been uploaded on Google Play and brings several new features and improvements.

Among the most important changes included in this update is the addition of “Fullscreen mode” on smartphones. Users will now be able to scroll down the page, in order to make the toolbar disappear and experience the full potential of their screens.

The search function has been simplified. According to Google, searching from the omnibox will keep search query visible in the omnibox, thus making it easier to edit. In addition, more results will be shown in the search page following this improvement of the function.

Google also added something called “client-side certificate support,” which will allow users to access sites that require them to use a certificate.

The latest version of Chrome will allow users to select an installed certificate in order to be able to continue to browse certain sites.

Another new feature added is the Tab history on tablets, allowing users to long press the browser back button in order to view their tab history.

As expected, the beta version of Chrome still has some known issues that will probably be addressed in future updates. Check out the full list below:

- Noticeable lag in text entry on some text fields; - chrome://history sometimes show duplicate items; - Opening tabs is sometimes slow; - Pages may flicker sometimes, especially during navigation.

Chrome Beta 27.0.1453.49 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up. Check it out here.
