Google is offering a series of updates across all releases of its open source browser, be them aimed at early adopters or offered to end users for everyday browsing.

In this regard, the Mountain View-based search giant revealed that testers can now grab new versions of Chrome through the Dev and Beta Channels.

Users also need to upgrade their version of Chrome, with a new Stable release now available for download.

“The Dev channel has been updated to 9.0.597.19 for all platforms. This was primarily a crash fix release, in particular resolving a sync related crash issue,” revealed Anthony Laforge, from the Google Chrome team.

Google is getting closer and closer to the first Beta of Chrome 9.0, but is not quite there yet. However, the search giant previously hinted that early adopters will get to play around with Chrome 9.0 beta by the end of 2010.

And there is an extremely small version change between the latest release offered through the Dev channel and its predecessor, illustrative of a jump from 9.0.597.16 to 9.0.597.19.

Obviously, this means that Google is simply putting the finishing touches on Chrome 9.0 in order to allow the next iteration of the open source browser to graduate to Beta.

“The Chrome Stable and Beta channels have been updated to 8.0.552.224 for all platforms. Chrome OS has also been updated to 8.0.552.343. These releases contain the security fixes listed below, along with stability and other improvements,” added Jason Kersey, Google Chrome team.

End users are advised to upgrade to Chrome 8.0.552.224 Stable as soon as possible, as this release brings to the table important patches designed to fix security vulnerabilities in the previous Stable build of the browser.

And it appears that Chrome OS, Google’s Chrome-based operating system will also receive updates at a very fast pace, with Build 8.0.552.343 already available to the select few that have been invited to test the platform.
