Chrome 9.0.572.1 for Mac OS X is now available via the Dev distribution channel, Google’s Karen Grunberg announced. The release brings Dev users up to feature parity with Beta and Stable channel users by adding an updated version of the Flash plugin.

Chrome 9.0.572.1 specifically targets Mac users, according to Google.

“The Chrome Dev channel has been updated to 9.0.572.1 for Mac. This release contains a new version of Flash,” Karen Grunberg, of the Google Chrome development team, writes.

As usual, “If you find new issues, please let us know by filing a bug,” the blogger adds.

Last week, no less than three new Chrome builds emerged for all supported platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux).

On the Beta channel, version 8.0.552.28 is up for grabs for all platforms, including Mac OS X.

The release contains a number of bug fixes, as well as features like the new bundled PDF viewer, more sync services, and improved plug-in handling, according to Jason Kersey, of the Google Chrome team. This release also contains the new version of Flash.

The most important Chrome update issued last week was the Stable 7.0.517.44 release for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and Chrome Frame, which brings important security fixes and the updated Flash.

Google Chrome 9 requires Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and an Intel-based Mac.

A note about Google Chrome release channels and updates

Chrome boasts a release system with three distinct channels: Stable, Beta, and Developer preview, called the "Dev" channel.

The Stable channel is updated with features and fixes only after they are thoroughly tested in the Beta channel, while the Beta channel is be updated with stable and complete features from the Dev channel, where ideas get tested.
