Google Chrome 7.0.517.17 dev and 7.0.517.13 dev have been released. The updated dev channel releases include minor fixes and polish work as the team is getting closer to launching the first Chrome 7 beta.

"The Dev channel has been updated to 7.0.517.17 for Windows, and 7.0.517.13 for Mac and Linux," Google Chrome's Anthony Laforge announced.

"This release focused on resolving minor bug fixes or crashes. More details about additional changes are available in the svn log of all revisions," he added.

Dev channel users should be updated automatically but you can grab the packages from below if you want to get right now or something went wrong with the automated system.

There won't be any noticeable changes between the previous Chrome dev channel version. The team has been working for the past couple of weeks on stabilizing the Chrome 7.0.517.xx version which will become the first beta and then later the first stable Chrome 7 release.

As such, the dev channel has fallen behind the latest developments for Chrome. Chromium, the open source project on which Chrome is based, which is updated several times a day is now at 7.0.533.0.

Windows users can grab the Canary build of Google Chrome which trails Chromium more closely. Mac and Linux users can get Chromium, with the caveat that it's even less stable than the dev channel, or wait until the beta is released at which time the dev channel will catch up.

Google has been working on accelerating the release schedule of Chrome. As such, major beta and stable releases will come six weeks apart rather than three months between, like until now.
