The Google Chrome Dev channel has been updated to version 6.0.490.1 for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, as well as for Chrome Frame platforms, Karen Grunberg announced on the blog dedicated to Chrome releases.

Google’s staffer reveals that, for all platforms, late binding has been enabled for SSL sockets.

“High priority SSL requests are now always sent to the server first,” the changelog goes.

Issues with focus problems when restoring from minimize have been resolved. Google also addressed the inability to add an address properly in the "AutoFill options" dialog box.

Several fixes and checks relating to syncing extensions have been resolved too.

Click-to-play is now behind the --enable-click-to-play command line switch, Grunberg notes, while several issues with click-to-play have been dealt with as well.

Mac-specific changes include tweaks and fixes to the Wrench menu, and a bug fix in the Custom Homepages preference.

Linux users will see no more broken thumbnail images in new tab window, Grunberg claims.

A single known issue is listed - “Incognito downloads are not showing up in the incognito downloads page”

As usual, the log of all revisions holds more details about additional changes.

The most recent beta release of chrome (6.0.472.33) is an equally important update for followers of the Beta channel, with such noteworthy changes as: Updated UI; Form Autofill; Syncing of extensions and Autofill data; and Increased speed and stability.

According to James Hawkins, Software Engineer at Google, the new Chrome beta hits a 15% speed improvement on the V8 benchmark, and a 15% improvement on the SunSpider benchmark, compared to the previous beta release.

Both benchmarks measure JavaScript performance.

The latest Chrome beta also scored a 64% improvement on Mozilla's Dromeao DOM Core Tests.
