Google has released a new developer build of its Chrome web browser, further enhancing its functionality. A post on the blog dedicated to Google Chrome Releases documents several changes, including known issues, for all supported platforms.

Available for Mac, Windows and Linux, Google Chrome 6.0.458.1 brings the following new additions, according to Karen Grunberg, of the Google Chrome development team:

- InfoBar should not be shown when the user first submits a form - AutoFill should continuously update profile data as the user submits forms with new data AutoFill: Aggregate profile data. Remove the AutoFill InfoBar. Remove more remnants of shipping address and CVV - When editing a field in a previously auto-filled form, only display unique suggestions AutoFill: Remove duplicate suggestions when providing suggestions for a field - Enabling sync freezes Chromium Remove NIGORI from the sync routing info

For Windows PC users, Grunberg mentions one specific change: “Chrome unable to start if other FFMpeg DLLs are present on the system.” One known issue is documented - “This crasher still exists in the current release, the fix is completed but not for this dev channel update.” As usual, the log of all revisions holds more details about additional changes.

A note about this Chrome release

Google Chrome is a free and easy to use browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, easier and safer. This release is not appropriate for general consumer use. Several features are unavailable at this time. "Download this only if you are a developer or take great pleasure in incomplete, unpredictable, and potentially crashing software," the Chrome development team stresses.

Last week, over at the Stable channel, Google Chrome was promoted to version 5.0.375.99 for all supported platforms (Mac, Linux, and Windows). “This release fixes the following security  issues,” Google’s staff said at the time. The latest stable build is still 5.0.375.99. Softpedia readers can download the respective version with confidence, using the link provided below.
