A post by Mark Larson, of the Google Chrome Team, reveals that Google Chrome 5.0.342.5 has been released to the Dev channel on all platforms (Mac, Windows and Linux). According to Larson, the release has quite a few improvements to the bookmark bar, as far as Mac users are concerned.

Larson asks fans of the web browser to note that, “There’s still an issue with folders with a lot of bookmarks. When you open the folder on the bookmarks bar, the list may extend below the bottom of the screen and you won’t be able to access the bookmarks at the bottom.”

On behalf of Google, Larson claims that, “A fix is coming soon,” and offers a workaround for those eager to use the feature – “use the bookmark menu in the menu bar,” he writes. The release notes also show that a lot of improvements have been made to the quality of form Autofill. As usual, those eager to learn more about additional changes are invited to check with the svn log of all revisions.

Google is known to be working on an Internet-oriented operating system bearing the Chrome label, which has been under development for a while now, in addition to developing the Chrome web browser for Mac, Windows and Linux. Chrome OS will be mostly installed on netbooks, given that it features key aspects like speed, simplicity, and security, according to Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management at Google. Its is believed that Google’s Chrome OS will be a direct rival of the enhanced iPhone operating system employed by the Apple iPad.

As usual, the latest version of Google Chrome for Mac can be obtained by using the download link below. Chrome for Mac works on Intel machines only, and requires Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or later. The Mac version of the browser is still beta software, therefore users are advised to exercise caution when utilizing the browser, or at least not rely on it for important tasks.
