Jason Kersey, Google Chrome software engineer, has announced that the Chrome Dev channel has been updated to version 14.0.803.0 for all platforms, including Mac OS X where a few specific notes are made.

According to Kersey, this release has the following changes and notes.

For all platforms, an updated V8 engine is now included (v. 3.4.6.2); this new build changes the meaning of third-party cookie blocking to allow whitelists.

On the Mac, relaunches do not work in this release, Kersey confirms.

“You will need to manually relaunch Chrome following a forced update, an about:flags change, or any other action that attempts to relaunch the browser,” the Google staffer blogs.

Linux users also get a number of platform-specific tweaks. For Ubuntu Natty users, this new Chrome build removes the Global Bookmarks menu by default in an attempt to fix minute-long startup regression on desktop environments that use dbusmenu.

No Windows-only changes are mentioned in Kersey’s post, though some are detailed in the full list of changes available in the SVN revision log at this address.

Softpedia readers looking to employ this new version of Chrome should note that Developer builds are prone to crashes and severe bugs. They are, therefore, highly unreliable.

More recommended is the Stable channel of Chrome where version 12.0.742.100 of the popular open source web browser is now up for grabs.

Adobe has recently updated Flash to version 10.3.181.26 which brings a few enhancements, including Acoustic Echo Cancellation, Auto-Update notification for Mac OS, and more inside Chrome 12.0.742.100 Stable which comes packed with the latest Flash plugin.

All Mac versions of Chrome (Stable, Beta, Dev) are immediately available to Softpedia readers via the link below. To run Chrome, you will need an Intel-based computer with at least 128MB of RAM.
