Another day, another Chrome test build released into the wild for those not too shy of playing around with a crash-prone web browser, and with a will to contribute to its reliability for the rest of the community to enjoy later on.

Available for all supported platforms, including Mac OS X, Chrome 11.0.696.3 focuses on correcting a few bugs, including the inability to select omnibox auto suggested entries by clicking it, a Linux issue where "Behavior" string is not externalized on the Exceptions page, and Chromium not loading some plugins.

Additionally, according to Google’s Karen Grunberg, POST omits body after NTLM authentication. Chrome 11.0.696.3 Dev fixes all these issues on Mac, Windows, and Linux, with Linux users gaining an extra fix, as mentioned above.

A known issue remains - “Crash when opening tab/startup @ SkBitmap::lockPixels”, reads the changelog.

Although stuck in the Dev Channel still, Chrome 11.0 will be on its way to the Beta channel relatively soon, these rapid successions of bug fixes should indicate. Testers are urged to file any bugs they may find at http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/entry.

Promoted to version 10.0 Stable earlier this week, Google Chrome features a newly updated V8 codenamed ‘Crankshaft’ which, according to the team of developers handling Chrome, “greatly improves javascript performance.”

Additional improvements for the Stable builds on Mac, Windows, and Linux include a new settings menu with pages that open in a tab, rather than a dialog box, improved security, sandboxed Adobe Flash on Windows, password sync, GPU Accelerated Video, background WebApps and more.

To run either version of Chrome on a Mac, the requirements are Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or later and an Intel-based machine.
