Benchmark tool Geekbench has been promoted to version 2.4.0, which adds support for the latest Apple gear, as well as new localizations and other enhancements.Version 2.4.0 supports Mac mini (Late 2012), iPad (4th generation), iPad mini, and iPod touch (5th generation), this being the latest Apple hardware added to the Geekbench compatibility list.
New localizations have been added and iOS (and Android), and the idle timer has been disabled as it could cause the screen to sleep during benchmarks on iOS. Primate Labs has also refreshed the results-view interface.
The update also improves support for systems with less than 512MB of memory, and fixes a bug that misidentified the international iPhone 5. Other changes and enhancements (concerning non-Apple hardware) are listed in the official changelog here.
You can download the demo version of Geekbench 2.4.0 (restricted to 32-bit benchmarks and does not allow you to run hardware stress tests) at the link below. The app requires that you have at least 512 MB of RAM.
