The stable branch of GIMP has been recently updated to build 2.6.12. The modifications do not include new features, only bug fixes, since this branch is designed to improve the stability of the application.

One of the most serious problems solved in GIMP 2.6.12 is a crash or Gtk-Critical when trying to open a file from File menu. On the same note, a previous version of the application, 2.6.10, would crash when hitting CTRL-left click on a layer mask.

Previous versions of GIMP would fail to import paths from SVG, but this should no longer be a problem. Also, Sample Colorize filter did not function non-interactively.

The list of notable issues fixed in this build also includes some buffer overflow problems as well as protection against crash due to quitting while DND is processed.
