A new version of Fring is out for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. According to the company with the same name, the new fring on iPhone is the cheapest way to call friends and family worldwide on regular landlines and mobile phone numbers.

In a nutshell, Fring has introduced a new feature for its iOS customers which allows them to place calls to regular landlines and mobile phone numbers.

Dubbed fringOut, the service allows to place calls to regular phone numbers internationally for as little as 0.6 cents per minute.

Activating fringOut and adding credit to it can be done directly from the application

Thanks to the recent upgrade to version 4.0.0.9, fring adds a total of three new enhancements:

- the new fringOut, described as the CHEAPEST way to call any landline or mobile # worldwide - calls from 1c/min! (3G & WiFi) - enhanced audio quality - improved connectivity (according to the developer, most of the connection problems should be gone).

fring's mobile internet service & community allows customers to talk, chat & interact with other fringsters and all of their online buddies (fring, Skype, MSN, GoogleTalk, AIM, Yahoo, Twitter, ICQ) using the Internet capability of Apple’s iOS devices.

Users can thus enjoy voice calls (VoIP) over WiFi and stay connected with their online world with instant messaging from anywhere using fring's multiple connections (3G, WiFi, GPRS, Edge).

Friends can even check-out each other's availability in real-time, with fring's dynamic contact list display.

The company is also running a promotion targeting travelers in Europe who are currently stranded due to weather conditions.

“Given many travelers are stranded in airports, fring is giving stranded users in airports (including Paris, London, Berlin, Frankfurt), $5 fringOut FREE. That way they can call home for free and make their arrangements.”
