Yahoo! has launched an all-new iPad app called “Livestand from Yahoo!”. It’s a personalized living magazine designed especially for Apple tablet owners and it’s currently available as a free and exclusive download on the iTunes App Store.

Livestand interlaces content from leading third-party publishers and Yahoo!'s global media network to create a visually pleasant digital experience that caters to the user’s interests and passions.

As you may have already gathered, personalization is the flagship feature of the app. It includes a nice set of sub-features, such as My Library, which acts as a living, personal collection of publications and topics, or Personal Mix a magazine that you customize by tagging topics and articles.

Livestand organizes content based on the topics that are the easiest to navigate, like Arts and Culture, Business and Finance, Sports, and Technology.

At launch, Livestand includes more than 100 popular titles and topics. Content spans publishers such as ABC News, Bonnier (Parenting), Forbes, and Source Interlink Media (Bike, Powder, Surfer). More will be adde weekly, according to Yahoo!

Blake Irving, EVP and chief product officer at Yahoo!, commented at a press event at the company’s Sunnyvale headquarters: "Tablets are profoundly changing how we interact with media and Livestand captures that shift in a deeply personal and imaginative new experience."

“No one does personalization better than Yahoo!. The technology behind Livestand, combined with its stunning design and fantastic variety of content, redefines what digital media can be," said Irving.

The app is add supported, of course. It displays graphically rich ads that combine HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to deliver a level of animation and interaction that rivals Apple’s own iAds.

Livestand from Yahoo! is compatible solely with the Apple iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later.
