Windows 7’s personalization options are undoubtedly one of the strongest points of the operating system, especially for those end users that value customization. But in this respect, the actual content offered for users to tailor the Windows 7 desktop in accordance with their preferences is simply world-class. The National Geographic magazine is offering a range of free wallpapers, essentially breathtaking examples of photography from around the world. TheWindowsClub went to all the effort to centralize the National Geographic wallpapers in a single package and release the NatGeo theme for Windows 7.

Of course, the wallpapers packaged in the Windows 7 NatGeo theme are available as standalone downloads from the National Geographic magazine. But in this regard, the theme will offer better access to the content in question. Windows 7 users that want to have the splendid images from National Geographic magazine on their desktops can grab them either one by one or as the NatGeo theme

Microsoft itself is partnering with a variety of companies in order to permit them to take advantage of the personalization capabilities of Windows 7. The Windows 7 Personalization Gallery on Microsoft.com offers a diversified range of content, including free themes and wallpapers, from such brands as CocaCola, Ducati, Pepsi, Infinity, Porsche, Ferrari and others. But the NatGeo theme is not an official collaboration with the Redmond company, it is instead an independent effort from TheWindowsClub.

The Windows Personalization Gallery is also the best place to start for users that want to create their own Windows 7 themes. Microsoft has posted a comprehensive tutorial designed to illustrate the steps needed for end users to put together their own Windows 7 themes. Of course that after creating a specific theme for Microsoft’s latest iteration of the Windows client, it can be shared with the world, just as it is the case for NatGeo.
