Download Free Windows 7 New Year in Japan Theme

Microsoft has chosen one of the first countries worldwide to enter the new year to celebrate 2011, Japan. The Windows Personalization Gallery was updated with a new Windows 7 theme with some superb imagery from the "Land of the Rising Sun".

Customers running the latest iteration of the Windows client from Microsoft can download the ‘New Year in Japan’ theme pack and install it on their computer immediately.

Microsoft managed to pack no less than 8 wallpapers in the Japan theme, focusing on offering Windows 7 users images symbolic of a new year’s celebration.

There are three background images of fireworks in the night sky over Odaiba and above the Tokyo Tower in Tokyo, but also above Yokohama, Kanagawa.

The remaining five images depict sunsets over some breathtaking landscapes across the country. Users will be able to put wallpapers of places such as mount Oakan and Akan lake in Hokkaido, mount Fuji and Tanuki lake in Shizuoka, Katsurahama in Kochi, Husband-And-Wife Rock in Mie, and a sea of clouds in Nara on their desktops.

The ‘New Year in Japan’ theme pack is available for download free of charge via the Windows Personalization Gallery, as is the case for all the customization content offered by the software giant.

Although it can only be installed in Windows 7, where it will also change the Windows Aero settings, the ‘New Year in Japan’ theme can be grabbed by all users, independent of the operating system they’re actually running.

The 8 wallpapers inside can subsequently be extracted with any archiving software and set individually as desktop background images.

In December 2010, Microsoft provided a number of themes designed to celebrate Christmas, the holidays and 2011. I’ve included download links below.
