14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft is offering users of Windows 7 the second movie-based theme pack for download through the Windows Personalization Gallery.
The Megamind theme pack went live at the start of this month preceding the launch of the actual movie by just a couple of days.
Customers running Windows 7 that are also fans of animation, or that want to spice up the desktop of their kids’ computer can download the Megamind theme and install it immediately.
Like all the content provided through the Windows Personalization Gallery this theme pack is also available for download free of charge.
The theme features a collection of no less than 9 wallpapers with the movie’s main characters, and is bound to be a delight for children.
“A superhero movie with a mind of its own! Download this Windows 7 theme featuring images of your favorite heroes and villains from Megamind, a 3D movie by DreamWorks Animation opening this fall,” reads the theme’s description.
Megamind has already been launched worldwide, and users can already see the characters in action and hear the actors that provided their voices: Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, David Cross and Brad Pitt.
The only other movie theme on the Windows Personalization Gallery is for Shrek Forever After, which also offers some great content for users.
When it launched the Windows Personalization Gallery, Microsoft revealed that it would ink deals with third-party companies for branding content offered as personalization materials for Windows 7.
Microsoft has of course also pushed its own brands through this channel, including Bing, Zune and Xbox games.
Of course, a number of additional companies have also leveraged this opportunity and have offered free content for download, in an attempt to push their brands to Windows 7 customers. Microsoft has yet to make public information about the level of success that this initiative enjoyed, if any.
