Download Free Windows 7 Holiday Wallpapers and Themes

Microsoft is offering an impressive collection of personalization content for Windows 7, allowing end users to enhance their desktops with unique imagery, sounds and visual settings.

This December, the Redmond company also provided themes and wallpapers designed to mark the holiday season.

With Christmas now just around the corners, I thought it would be nice to provide you with a reminder of the new wintery themes and background images that are available as free download from the Windows Personalization Gallery.

Microsoft’s Rob Margel revealed that the Windows Personalization Gallery has been updated with no less than 15 new desktop backgrounds.

Three of those are also included into the new holiday theme packs that the software giant provided to Windows 7 users ahead of this Christmas.

“In December we launched several new Windows 7 themes for the holidays. If you’re looking for something seasonal, falling snowflakes and seraphic maidens float through the dreamlike Snow Angels theme,” revealed Jennifer Shepherd, site manager for the Windows Personalization Gallery.

“The new Winter theme features visions of sun on sparkling snow, icy pink sunrises, white mountain-peaks, and ice-covered ponds.

“Also the Holiday Lights theme (I mentioned this in my post Windows 7 themes: Holiday décor for your desktop, but it bears repeating) is really pretty! If you haven’t downloaded it yet, I hope you will.”

Shepherd promised that a new theme will be provided to Windows 7 customers ahead of 2011, just to help them end the year with a bang.

In the meantime I think that you have enough personalization content to tide you over this Christmas. But make sure to keep your eyes on this space and I’ll certainly provide an update once the new theme pack becomes available for download.
