Santa came early this year for Windows 7 customers, courtesy of Microsoft. The Windows Personalization Gallery has been updated with fresh content, and it shouldn’t be a surprise that the new theme offered for download is related to Christmas. After all, the 2010 holiday season is just around the corner, with December now just a week away.

And it will now be easier for Windows 7 users to get in the Christmas spirit and power their holiday cheer as soon as they boot their computers.

Well, fact is that first they will need to head over to the Windows Personalization Gallery, download and install the Holiday Lights theme for Windows 7.

“Brighten your desktop with sparkling images of holiday celebration and winter wonder in this Windows 7 theme,” reads the description of the theme.

The software giant has packed 17 beautiful images into this theme, obviously orbiting the same leitmotif, Christmas.

There are Christmas trees, candles, Christmas lights, pine cones, snow, and even cacti and pall trees for those places that are a tad more flexible on the definition of the vegetation that qualifies for a Christmas tree (hint California).

With the Holiday Lights theme on your desktop, Christmas decorations in your home, and carols playing in Windows 7’s Media Player users have all the ingredients for a beautiful holiday.

Also, customers can easily access additional details about the wallpapers offered in the Holiday Lights theme pack.

All that they need to do is right click on the images one by one after the theme is installed and select Properties.

Microsoft has made sure to package meta information with each background image. Not a lot, but users will at least get an idea of where the photo has been snapped for some of the images.

The Windows 7 Holiday Lights theme is available for download here.
