The latest Windows 7 theme added to the Windows Personalization Gallery allows users to take a trip into the past, at least as far as their desktop background is concerned.

Customers running Windows 7 can of course go ahead and grab the Echoes of the Past theme free of charge via the gallery, along with a variety of other content available from Microsoft.

The Echoes of the Past theme certainly stands out among other themes that the Redmond company provides for Windows 7 users through the Windows Personalization Gallery.

And it does so only through the content featured in the wallpapers, which doesn’t fall in line with any of the previous themes that Microsoft shared with its users.

This doesn’t mean however that end users won’t get a collection of beautiful images to set as desktop wallpapers.

I suspect that customers that are fans of historic details will certainly find the Echoes of the Past theme to their liking.

“Time-travel back to the Age of Steam with a treasure-trove of antique images bathed in a golden Victorian light,” reads the theme’s description.

Looking at some of the background images in the Echoes of the Past theme has certainly made me miss my old typewriter.

I still have it, and still think fondly of the countless hours I spent in front of it in my adolescence translating to page whatever my imagination could produce. I do the same nowadays as well, but my wireless keyboard just doesn’t provide a comparable “UX,” or the same intimate connection with an empty piece of paper.

But I digress. Make sure to check out the images included below, just to get a preview of the Echoes of the Past theme before you actually download and install on your Windows 7 computer.

The Windows 7 Echoes of the Past theme is available for download here.
