In the eventuality that the landscape outside lacks in snow and users feel the need for an extra wintery kick, Microsoft has just the right theme pack available for download.
The Redmond company just refreshed the Windows Personalization Gallery and is now offering customers running Windows 7 the Artic theme.
As the label implies, this new theme offers a superb collection of imagery from a place where winter is perpetual and sub-zero temperatures are not in the least seasonal.
There are no less than 15 wallpapers packaged into the Arctic theme for Windows 7, some focused on breathtaking landscapes, other offering a glimpse at examples of how life can triumph even in the harshest of conditions.
Make sure to check out the screenshots below before you decide whether the Arctic theme is worth a download or not.
Obviously, I would say that it’s definitely worth to install Arctic in Windows 7, especially since, as it is the case with all Windows Personalization Gallery themes, this chilling theme pack is also available as a free download.
Users running Windows Vista, Windows XP or other operating systems can also grab the theme and unpack the wallpapers which can be set as desktop backgrounds one by one.
Windows 7 customers need only double click the theme once it’s downloaded in order to install it, also changing their Windows Aero setting to better reflect the content.
It’s important to note that the Redmond company has packed metadata with each image. Customers can right click the wallpapers, select Properties, click on the Details tab and get some information on the photos.
Of course, the software giant has been already offering
a collection of themes and wallpapers that share the same leitmotif: winter.
No less than three theme packs have been released in December 2010, all celebrating the season, but also focused on Christmas.
