Download Free Windows 2008 R2 DirectAccess Server Management Pack

Microsoft has made available for download the Operations Management Pack for Windows 2008 R2 DirectAccess Server, in an effort to help IT professionals that have to administer a DirectAccess server built with the latest iteration of Windows Client. In this regard, Windows 2008 R2 DirectAccess Server Management Pack for SC Operations Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is up for grabs free of charge from the Microsoft Download Center.

“Now available for download, the Operations Management Pack for Windows Server 2008 R2 DirectAccess Server supports a rich set of Alarms, Monitors and Agent Tasks that can be used to successfully and efficiently manage a DirectAccess server,” revealed Sacha Dawes, CISSP, sr. technical product manager System Center Solutions for Dynamic Datacenters.

Dawes explains that the original release (v1) of Windows 2008 R2 DirectAccess Server Management Pack comes to the table with support for features such as automatic discovery of the DirectAccess Server and its components, as well as various monitors. In this context, the solution supports components such as IP-HTTPS Gateway, ISATAP Router, Network Security Component, 6to4 Router, Teredo Relay, Teredo Server, but also monitors of Status of DirectAccess Server and its components, Denial of service (DoS), spoofing, and replay attacks, ICMP and data traffic queue overflows, and utilization of available IPsec states on the Direct Server.

“The Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems introduce DirectAccess, which allows remote users to securely access enterprise shares, Web sites, and applications without connecting to a virtual private network (VPN). DirectAccess establishes bi-directional connectivity with a user’s enterprise network every time a user’s DirectAccess-enabled portable computer connects to the Internet, even before the user logs on,” Microsoft stated.
