The start of this week was synonymous with the release to manufacturing of Visual Studio 2010 and
.Net Framework 4. The RTM versions for the latest iteration of Microsoft’s development platform and tools also became available for download on April 12, 2010. As far as VS is concerned, along with the four heavyweight editions of the product, developers can also download the now-traditional Express SKU. Perfect for beginner developers, Visual Studio 2010 Express RTM brings to the table a collection of comprehensive resources designed to be the first step toward more complex development work. The Express edition offers an overhauled integrated development environment, a fresh editor for the creation of which Microsoft used Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). Of course Visual Studio 2010 Express RTM comes with support for.NET Framework 4.

In addition to the free version of
VS2010, Microsoft is offering customers four editions of the development platform, namely Professional, Premium, Ultimate and Test Professional. All the SKUs mentioned above are available for download free of charge, but only as time-bombed trail releases.
