Apple has released a new software update for users of the Pro version of its digital audio workstation and MIDI sequencer for Mac OS X. The update delivers improved compatibility and numerous fixes and can be acquired from the company’s Downloads section by entering a valid Logic Pro 9 serial number.
“This update improves overall stability, provides numerous fixes and enhancements, and is recommended for all users of Logic Pro 9,” Apple says. “Running Logic Pro 9.1 in 64-bit mode requires Mac OS X v10.6.2 Snow Leopard, or later. For information about running Logic Pro in 64-bit mode, see this article,” the company advises users of its music-production software.
According to the release notes, issues addressed in this update include: support for 64-bit native mode; compatibility with 64-bit Audio Unit plug-in, file names with over 32 characters are now supported; samples are now mapped correctly when using the “Contiguous Zones” option in the EXS editor. The full release notes for Logic Pro 9.1 are available elsewhere on the company’s website. Softpedia will be discussing those in a separate article today.
Apple also informs that it has updated the System Requirements for Logic Pro 9, which now calls for Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later in 32-bit mode, and Mac OS X 10.6.2 or later for the 64-bit mode. The update is recommended for all users of Logic Pro 9, although there are some restrictions when working in 64-bit mode, the company says.
Logic Pro Version 9.1, posted on January 12, 2010 on Apple’s Downloads section is a free download for all Logic Pro 9 users. Weighing in at 191.14MB, the package supports languages including German, English and French. Additional information on the update, including restrictions in 64-bit mode, can be found by visiting Apple’s Support section here.
