Place-finding service Foursquare has released an updated iOS client that’s “all about finding the best place to go and making your visit more interesting and fun,” according to the developers.

Foursquare iOS customers updating to version 5.4 will now see the most important stuff – the rating, address, hours, menu, and phone number – right at the top of the screen. After checking into a place, users will see who else is there.

Swipeable photos are now available at the top, and every time you check in, Foursquare promises to display “something interesting.” The company offers an example: “your 20th time hanging out with your friend Charles.”

Whether or not you have any friends named Charles, you can be sure that Foursquare will keep track of your hangouts.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, Foursquare requires iOS 5.0 or later and works natively on devices with 4-inch displays, like the iPhone 5 and the latest iPod touch.
