Download Forefront Threat Management Gateway Tools

At the start of February 2009, Microsoft made available for download Forefront Threat Management Gateway Beta 2, a secure Web gateway tailored to corporate IT infrastructures. On March 4, 2009, a collection of tools designed to integrate seamlessly with Forefront TGM went live on the Microsoft Download Center and are now available for download. The Redmond company is essentially offering the Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG), Medium Business Edition Tools & Software Development. Customers will be able to access tools that take advantage of FGM's feature, solutions that will provide diagnostics capabilities, as well as the SDK for the security solution.

According to Microsoft, the Forefront TMG MBE Tools umbrella reunites such components as the Cache Directory Tool, the DNS Cache Tool, Firewall Kernel Mode Tool, MSDEToText Tool, Remote Access Quarantine Tool, RSA Test Authentication Utility, Best Practices Analyzer Tool and the Forefront TMG, Medium Business Edition SDK.

Bill Jensen, senior product manager for Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) announced the launch of the Beta 2 development milestone of the solution Microsoft envisions as the successor of the Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA Server). The Forefront TGM secure Web gateway is designed to protect a corporate IT network not only from web-based threats, but also from risks associated with employee browsing habits.

Cache Directory Tool for Forefront TMG

Use the Cache Directory Tool (CacheDir.exe) to view real-time cache contents, save information about the current cache contents to a file, and mark obsolete items that should not be served from the cache.

DNS Cache Tool for Forefront TMG Use the DNS Cache Tool (Dnstools.exe) on a Forefront TMG server to display the contents of the Domain Name System (DNS) cache and to delete entries in the DNS cache.

Firewall Kernel Mode Tool for Forefront TMG

Use the Firewall Kernel Mode Tool (FWEngMon.exe) to analyze and troubleshoot firewall connectivity issues by monitoring the Forefront TMG kernel-mode driver (fweng.sys).

MSDEToText Tool for Forefront TMG

Use this tool (MSDEToText.exe) to convert Forefront TMG SQL Server logs into a text file, or to display their contents on the screen.

Remote Access Quarantine Tool for Forefront TMG

Use this tool (RQSUtils.exe) to prepare Forefront TMG as an RQS listener component.

RSA Test Authentication Utility for Forefront TMG

Use the RSA Test Authentication Utility (SdTestPack.exe) to verify that a computer running Forefront TMG can authenticate to a computer running RSA Authentication Manager.

Best Practices Analyzer Tool (BPA) Use the BPA (IsaBPA.msi) to determine the overall health of your Forefront TMG servers and to diagnose current problems. BPA scans configuration settings of the local Forefront TMG server and reports issues.
