NETGEAR has made available a new firmware version developed for its JWNR2000v2 and WNR1500 routers, namely build 1.0.0.11, which includes a few changes that improve the devices’ overall performance and stability.

In order to be clear, this fresh release resolves the PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) pass through problem where it wouldn’t work from WAN to LAN, as well as the protocol’s flooding issue encountered while connected to certain Russian Internet providers.

In addition to that, firmware 1.0.0.11 also fixes the Russian ISP info collection algorithm as well as the Telclast issue where the system would crash once the wireless client device was connected with the target.

As for applying this version, get and extract the downloadable archive and back up all settings that you have modified from the default values (you will need to enter them after the installation). Also, since wireless connections are not very trustworthy, make sure to connect the router and the computer through an Ethernet cable.

Now, log into the router’s user interface, go to Maintenance → Router Upgrade → Browse, navigate and select the “JWNR2000v2_WNR1500-V1.0.0.11_1.0.1.img” file from the newly-created folder, and click the “Upload” button.

At this point, the firmware is transferred to the device and, when done, the update process is automatically initiated by the router – so make sure you don’t interrupt it.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your router model, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and apply the latest firmware in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
