A new beta flavor of the Firefox for Android browser is now available for download for the owners of devices powered by Google's mobile operating system, namely Firefox for Android 9.0 Beta 2.

The new iteration of the application came to devices only a few days after the initial Firefox for Android 9.0 Beta was made available for download via the Android Market.

Although the new flavor of the application was already put up for download, no release note has emerged until now.

On its website, Mozilla explains that the new beta flavor of Firefox 9.0 comes with features such as a new tablet UI, Full-Screen Portrait Browsing, Tab Optimization, HTML Input Tag for Camera Access, HTML5 Form Validation, and more.

The mobile application was built on the same engine as the desktop flavor, and is meant to provide users with a great experience while on the go.

Some of the main changes that the Firefox for Android 9.0 comes to devices with include: New Look for Tablets: Firefox Beta has a new experience for tablets that leverages the large screen size and makes mobile Web browsing more intuitive. Popular Firefox features like tabs and the Awesome Screen are optimized for tablets.

Full-Screen Portrait Browsing: Firefox Beta takes advantage of large tablet screens so you can use the full screen to browse the Web, even in portrait mode. Tabs are listed in a top left menu and easily hide when you don’t need them.

Tab Optimization: Tabs are shown as thumbnails in the left panel of Firefox Beta, allowing you to easily switch between tabs while still viewing full websites on the right. You can swipe to the left to hide tabs for a full screen view.

New Action Bar with Quick Access Buttons: You can access Firefox Preferences, Add-ons, downloads and more in the new Action Bar menu (next to the Awesome Bar). The Action Bar adds back, forward and bookmark buttons for easy access.

At the same time, the browser packs features aimed at developers, including the aforementioned HTML Input Tag for Camera Access, HTML5 Form Validation. Firefox for Android also includes support for add-ons, and users can enjoy a number of over 160 such software available for it.
