This is a security-driven release that fixes a critical issue

Mozilla has just released a new version of its Firefox browser for Android devices. This time developers updated the stable version of the application rather than the beta.

Although the changes added are minimal, they are of outmost importance. According to Mozilla, this security-driven release fixes a vulnerability that can be used to run attacker code and install software, requiring no user interaction beyond normal browsing.

It appears that VUPEN Security reported a use-after-free within the HTML editor when content script is run by the document.execCommand() function while internal editor operations are occurring.

As we mentioned earlier, this could allow for arbitrary code execution, which is why Mozilla decided to offer a fix for this as fast as possible.

Firefox 19.0.2 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.0 and up. Check it out here.
