Mozilla has just released a major update for the beta version of Firefox for Android. It’s only been two days since the company launched the latest stable version of the mobile browser on Google Play, and now another beta version is slowly making its way onto Android devices.

This major update for Firefox Beta brings a few new features aimed at developers:

- DEVELOPER: Implemented Remote Profiling; - DEVELOPER: Integrated, Add-on SDK loader and API libraries into Firefox; - DEVELOPER: DOM/content implementation for < input type='time' > Associated bugs.

Aside from that, some new features, bug fixes, improvements and various changes have been included in this major update as well. Check them all out below:

- NEW: Shipping Open Sans and Charis fonts for Web Content; - NEW: Ability to save media files on long tap; - CHANGED: Polished UI based on Holo theme; - CHANGED: CSS -moz-user-select:none selection changed to improve compatibility with -webkit-user-select:none; - CHANGED: Graphics related performance improvements; - CHANGED: Removed E4X support from SpiderMonkey; - HTML5: Added support for < main > element; - HTML5: Implemented scoped stylesheets; - FIXED: Download Manager page is not updated after clearing private data; - FIXED: In content UI cut off on small screens.

Unfortunately, as with all these beta builds, there are still some things that need to be ironed out. They are called “known issues” and they’re all listed below:

- Some recent changes in the Google layout and CSS may cause issues in non-webkit browsers like Firefox (see 668288); - Firefox for Android uses the same locale as your system language settings (see 695565); - Font inflation may sometimes render inconsistent font sizes on certain pages (see 707195); - Firefox Sync will not behave as expected if multiple Firefox channels are installed on a single device (see 761206); - 'Video can't be played because the file is corrupt' on some HTC Gingerbread (Android 2.3) devices (see 829454); - Private Browsing - can't see URL bar text on variant of HTC Sense UI (Froyo) (see 833351).

Firefox 21.0 Beta 1 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.0 and up. Check it out here.
