14 DAY TRIAL // Here are some Firefox downloads to hold you over while you wait for Firefox 4.0 Release Candidate (RC). Mozilla has just made available for download Firefox 3.6.14 and Firefox 3.5.17, the latest updates to the currently supported stable versions of its open source browser.
Fact is that Mozilla noted as much as a week ago that it was going to provide users with the latest Firefox 3.6.x and Firefox 3.5.x releases today, March 1st, 2011, and the company managed to live up to its promise.
Firefox 3.6.14 and Firefox 3.5.17 can be downloaded via the links at the bottom of this article, but users will need to exercise their patience a bit longer when it comes down to additional details, such as release notes.
However, for the most part, it’s no secret that Firefox 3.6.14 and Firefox 3.5.17 are both security and stability updates designed to improve reliability as well as patch vulnerabilities in previous versions of Firefox 3.6 and Firefox 3.5.
Customers running older versions of Mozilla’s open source browser need to make sure and upgrade as soon as possible to the latest versions.
It has taken Mozilla quite a while to produce Firefox 3.6.14 and Firefox 3.5.17. The previous two versions of the stable releases of Firefox were launched on December 8th, 2010, almost three months ago.
Of course, the fact that Firefox 3.6.14 and Firefox 3.5.17 spent three months cooking doesn’t mean anything in terms of the changes they’re designed to bring to the table.
Users should expect nothing more than bug fixes and patches with both Firefox 3.6.14 and Firefox 3.5.17.
However, they’re bound to come across some new features in the upcoming Firefox 4.0. Mozilla recently released Firefox 4.0 Beta 12, which is the final Beta development milestone.
The browser vendor already started work on Firefox 4.0 RC, and provided that no regression issues or major problems will be identified I think Mozilla has a real chance at releasing the next version of its browser by the end of this month.
