Mozilla has released its latest wave of security and stability updates for the still-supported release of Firefox. March 2010 is the only month in which the company made available refreshes for no less than three flavors of its open source browser. Firefox 3.6 received its first update earlier this month, jumping past 3.6.1 straight to 3.6.2. Now it’s the turn of 3.0.19 and 3.5.9 to be delivered. Mozilla announced previously that it was aiming for a release on March 30, and it looks like the browser maker is right on the money.

The final version of Firefox 3.0.19 is now available for download (links at the bottom of this article). This is a very special update for Firefox 3.0. With the release of v3.0.19, the now-old Firefox 3.0 bows out for good. Essentially, v3.0.19 is the latest update to Firefox 3.0 that Mozilla will ever deliver. In this context, March 30 is also synonymous with the end of support for Firefox 3.0.

Users that are still running v3.0 of the open source browser should start planning and moving to either 3.5.x or 3.6.x as soon as possible or risk being left high and dry, with no more stability updates, and more importantly, security patches from Mozilla. Moving onward, Mozilla will only work on the development and delivery of Firefox 3.5.10 and Firefox 3.6.3.

Concomitantly with the availability of Firefox 3.0.19, Mozilla will also release Firefox 3.0.9 to web. At the time of this article, Firefox 3.5.9 wasn't live on the company’s FTP servers for Softpedia to grab and offer it to users. However, fact is that it won’t be much longer until Firefox 3.5.9 will be available for download, so make sure to keep your eyes on this space, and I’ll provide an update once downloads are live. Just as Firefox 3.0.19, v3.0.9 is a stability and security update, but it won’t be the last refresh for 3.5, despite the availability of 3.6.

Initially, Mozilla planned to synchronize Firefox 3.0.9, Firefox 3.0.19 and Firefox 3.6.2, and release them together on March 30. However, Firefox 3.6.2 was rushed because the need to plug a 0–day vulnerability that only affected version 3.6.
