The application should move to the stable channel in January

Mozilla has just made available for download a new Beta version of its Firefox mobile browser for devices running under Google’s Android operating system.

We’re referring here to Firefox 10, which has just come out of the Aurora channel, and which landed in Beta today, while expected to graduate to a stable product sometime at the end of January 2012.

Today, users can download the Beta version of Firefox 10 for Android to enjoy some of the enhancements that would make it into the final product at that time.

However, those who would rather go for a stable version of the application can download Firefox 9 for Android, which was released only a few days ago.

The latest changes in Firefox 10 include the following:

- Anti-Aliasing for WebGL is now implemented - Accelerated layers are now supported via OpenGL ES - It's now even easier to set up Firefox Sync - see the "Set up Sync" link on the home tab - New <bdi> element for bi-directional text isolation, along with supporting CSS properties - We've added IndexedDB APIs to more closely match the specification - There is an extremely rare case where the browser may become unable to load web pages or close tabs

Mozilla also notes that the new application release comes with improved Sync set-up, and that there are bug fixes for users to benefit from.

Before hitting the download link, they should also know that there still are a series of issues with the application, and that the experience they receive from it might be affected by these.

The mobile browser is available for download for all devices running under Google’s Android 2.0 or newer operating system. It weighs in at about 15MB.

The new Firefox 10 Beta for Android can be found on Softpedia via this link. The stable flavor of Firefox 9 is available there as well.
