Dockland Software has released Fantasktik 1.4, the latest version of its taskbar application for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The new release adds the ability to close windows from the taskbar, launch Expose on any open application directly from Fantasktik, the capability to exclude apps through the right-click menu, and more cool stuff.

Dockland Software's Fantasktik lives quietly in your System Preferences as an auxiliary taskbar that enables you to keep a close eye on your running applications and their opened windows. Your windows are displayed racked next to one another either just below the menu bar or just above your Dock, depending on where you want them. The application is non-intrusive and opaque, yet highly visible when you need it.

Fantasktik can display a preview of the app / window you are hovering over with the mouse pointer, offering all the information you need to see if that is the place you want to go. Early updates added an “enable / disable” option to this feature. Sleek animations and transparency effects contribute to the pleasant user experience. You can also use the application to your advantage by doubling with the Expose feature of OS X. The enhancements brought in the latest version of the software are listed below.

- Right-click menu to close or minimize windows.
- Right-click menu to hide, quit or Expose applications.
- Applications can be excluded from Fantasktik through the new right-click menu.
- New option to show the applications in alphabetical order.
- Multi-monitor support (drag the bar using the side areas).
- Automatically scroll the bar to show the current active application.
- Clicking on the active window minimizes it.
- Option to not monitor Safari actively to avoid a Safari bug that causes crashes.
- Option to allow Fantasktik to overlap the Dock at the bottom of the screen.
- Fixed fullscreen mode.
- Fixed a bug with applications having multiple instances.
- Fixed the hide mechanism for apps selected to hide Fantasktik.
- Discontinued Sidekick.
